Published governance
Catalog inclusion policies
These versioned rules define what belongs before an edge case reaches a curator. Decisions may still require judgment, but they must point back to published criteria.

Inclusion policy
v1.0 · 2026-07-14Include works whose primary or substantial player experience is narrative delivered through text and visual presentation. Borderline hybrids are reviewed from published evidence, not a single moderator's taste.
Included
- Visual novels and kinetic novels documented by VNDB or the publisher.
- Narrative hybrids where reading, branching choices, or visual-novel presentation is a substantial part of the work.
- Official regional releases and translations that resolve to the same work.
Excluded
- Games with only incidental dialogue or cutscenes and no substantial visual-novel structure.
- Unofficial fan projects without a stable release or verifiable publisher/creator source.
- Duplicate editions that differ only by storefront packaging; edition details belong in attributes or aliases.
Useful evidence
- VNDB record or official publisher/developer page.
- Official storefront page showing the work's narrative format.
- For disputed hybrids, a source demonstrating how much of the work uses visual-novel structure.
If the evidence points to a genuine boundary case, submit an inclusion review. A rejection includes a reason and can receive one appeal.
Pokémon TCG
Inclusion policy
v1.0 · 2026-07-14Include official Pokémon Trading Card Game printings that can be identified from a sanctioned or openly licensed catalog source. Language and regional printings are first-class when the source can distinguish them reliably.
Included
- Official cards with a stable set and card identifier.
- Language or regional printings supported by a sanctioned/open data source.
- Promotional printings when an official identifier or release source exists.
Excluded
- Proxies, custom cards, fan art cards, and counterfeit printings.
- Speculative variants that cannot be distinguished by a stable source identifier.
- Marketplace-only listings whose authenticity or printing cannot be independently verified.
Useful evidence
- PokemonTCG.io, TCGdex, or an official Pokémon product/checklist page.
- A sanctioned regional checklist or publisher source for language-specific printings.
- Collector marketplace links may support context but are not sufficient as the only catalog source.
If the evidence points to a genuine boundary case, submit an inclusion review. A rejection includes a reason and can receive one appeal.
